Welcome to our Grand Rounds for the nonprofit Gymnastics Medicine: Education and Research



Topic: Achilles Tears: "The Achilles Heel of Gymnastics".

Target audience: Gymnasts, parents, coaches, medical providers.

Description: Join our multidisciplinary team of Gymnastics Medicine experts as we explore and explain a gymnast with an Achilles tear! We will break down the anatomy of the Achilles, review over common signs and symptoms and a physical exam, explain diagnostic tests, demonstrate onsite injury care, discuss treatment (including surgical intervention vs conservative treatment), and even discuss the mental aspect of having surgery and nutrional needs for recovery!

You will also learn about the best physical therapy (including landing mechanics) and strength and conditioning exercises that you and your gymnast can do for not only a torn achilles, but also how to prevent them!
